Description

Perhaps you've never heard of the famous "C"mint, located in Charlotte, North Carolina. Even many coin dealers and serious coin collectors know little about this Eastern branch of the U.S. Mint. In fact, it's one of the best-kept secrets in all of coin collecting! Only the $1, $2.5 and $5 gold coins were minted at the Charlotte Mint.

The 1858-C Liberty Head quarter eagle is scarce, having only a mintage of 9,056 coins makes it rare but it's more available than issues minted at the Charlotte Mint form 1854 to 1858. The Smithsonian's example is only a AU55 specimen making this example graded MS61 a true find for any collector.
