| Perhaps you've never heard of the famous "C" mint, located in Charlotte, North Carolina. Even many coin dealers and serious coin collectors know little about this Eastern branch of the U.S. Mint. In fact, it's one of the best-kept secrets in all of coin collecting! Only the $1, $2.5 and $5 gold coins were minted at the Charlotte Mint.
The 1849-C Liberty Head quarter eagle is one of the rarest Charlotte quarter eagles in all grades. It has a mintage of only 10,220 coins. High grade specimens of this issue are almost never seen, most examples known are either Extremely Fine or About Uncirculated condition. This example graded MS61 by NGC is a condition census rarity making it a great prize and corner stone for any collection! |
